In today's society, where nearly 70% of adults in the UK are considered overweight or obese, traditional approaches to weight loss such as diets and exercise are often ineffective. The struggle with weight goes beyond aesthetics, as it poses serious health risks and can lead to various medical conditions. Moreover, being overweight can take a toll on a person's mental health, leading to low self-esteem, increased anxiety, and depression. Recognising the need for a non-traditional approach, weight loss therapy has emerged as a powerful tool in addressing the underlying emotional factors that contribute to weight gain and unhealthy eating habits.
Cottage of Dreams offers two programmes to help and support you through your weight loss journey. Both our 1-2-1 and group programmes offer gastric band hypnotherapy, coaching, and trauma-based belief coding. Our group sessions also include peer support, nutritional advice, yoga sessions and breath work. Whichever programme you choose, you'll be supported every step of the way by a registered mental health practitioner and hypnotherapist. Below you'll find further information on each programme along with a number of common questions that we've answered.

This programme is delivered in a group setting and includes the following:
The programmes provide individuals with a safe space to explore and make sense of their struggles with weight, food, eating, and body image. By delving into the patterns of thinking, behaviour, and emotions surrounding weight, individuals can gain a deeper understanding of their relationship with food and eating. Through taking part in our programmes, individuals can make positive changes to their eating habits and behaviours, develop emotional agility, and build self-esteem and confidence as they cultivate a healthy relationship with food and their bodies.
Weight loss is not just a physical battle but also a psychological one. Many individuals struggle to follow calorie-restricted diets and maintain regular exercise due to various psychological factors associated with obesity. Emotional, relational, and behavioural associations with eating can make weight loss feel impossible. Weight issues may have been a lifelong struggle for some individuals, while others may have developed them in adulthood. Our programmes aim to unpack the associations, messages, decisions, patterns, and beliefs that perpetuate the cycle of weight struggles.
Our programmes offer practical solutions, tips, and skills to support individuals in changing their eating behaviours. They focus on breaking old habits, creating new behaviour pathways, and transforming faulty thinking patterns. Through a therapeutic relationship with a member of our team, you can process your thoughts and feelings about food and eating in a safe and non-judgmental space.
Hypnotherapy is utilising hypnosis for therapeutic purposes. Hypnosis is the art of entering into trance using guided fantasy. This is very natural and is something we often find ourselves in several times a day. So, when you find yourself staring into space or out the window, reading a book etc, this is a hypnotic state. Within the trance state of deep relaxation, you will experience an increase in concentration, attention and suggestibility enabling the identified goal to be achieved as the mind is more open to positive suggestions. It’s very relaxing and calming, letting the subconscious and conscious connect.
The subconscious is like a computer, it stores every memory, feelings and emotions through the entire period of our lives. Hypnotherapy allows us to access this and make positive changes, treating mental and physical health conditions, behaviours and habits.
Some points to consider:
Gastric band is a surgical procedure. The surgeon places a band around the upper part of the stomach and a smaller pouch to hold food is formed. After eating small amounts of food, we will feel fuller more quickly, this will retrain us to eat less.
This offers a physical solution whereas the hypnotic gastric band trains the subconscious mind to believe the stomach is smaller than it is. The band is placed virtually around the top part of the stomach during hypnosis. We start to eat smaller portions as we become fuller quicker also.
You achieve the results without the risks of surgery and of course it is less expensive. It is important to point out that the hypnosis session will not work alone, and it needs us to continue to make conscious efforts to eat healthy and exercise.
The programme designed by Cottage of Dreams includes both hypnotic sessions, 1-1 coaching as well as advice/guidance on how to maintain your healthy lifestyle changes. It’s well documented that most unwanted weight gain is because of some emotional trauma difficulties. The programme has been created with all of this in mind and aims to gain the best results. Utilising various modalities like mindset coaching, hypnosis, NLP, CBT and belief coding, focusing on any underlying trauma connected to weight gain. We focus on changing the mind and not the physical body, changing our mindset is essential when it comes to achieving long term weight loss and success.
The success rate for gastric band hypnosis is 70% to 80%. You have to be open to the process and ready to make those all-important changes.
Cottage of Dreams offers two weight loss programmes. There is a 1-2-1 programme where you will work with your coach over a 6 to 8 week period and there is a group programme that takes place over a 12 week period, where you'll work as part of a group and receive peer support.
